Menopausal Symptom Relief: How To Make Peace With Your Body
Menopausal symptoms aren’t just physical — they can shake your confidence, identity, and even your sense of humor. But here’s the good news: you don’t have to just “get through” this stage — you can shine through it (and not just because you’re sweaty 😅).
In my two recent podcast conversations on Feminine Codes with Tamar and Age Like a Badass Mother with Lauren, we laughed, shared, and dug into how this stage of life is less of a slow fade and more of a full-blown second adolescence. 🤯
Only this time, you’ve got wisdom, resilience, and the freedom to write the rules your way. YESSS! (💌 See the P.S. for the full scoop on these can’t-miss episodes!)
✦ When Menopausal Symptoms Spark An Epic Wardrobe Meltdown
The Great Date Night Boot Debacle:
It was date night and I was feeling brave. So brave, I pulled on a short mini skirt — but instead of “cute and flirty,” it felt more like stuffing myself into a sausage casing. 😳
Not one to be easily derailed from a goal, I continued, reaching for my high-heeled boots… only to have the zipper get stuck halfway up. Even my calves had joined the midlife rebellion!
In years past, not fitting into my own clothes would’ve spun me into a full-on slump. But this time around, I was wiser. Result? Instead of getting upset, I burst out into hysterical laughter! 🤭
As my teens assured me it was just muscle from all the cycling I’d been doing, my sweet husband lovingly helped by tugging off the stuck boots while I lay on the bed, giggling.
We still went out for date night — I wore comfy jeans, flats, a sweater, and a big smile.
And yet, though I’m thankful to be having a better menopause experience now than what I started off with — 😩😤😞🤪😵💫 — all roads to greatness have curves…
✦ The Bold Truth About Menopausal Symptoms
Perimenopause. Instead of the peacefully controlled harmony of self I’m used to, perimenopause felt like friction — a hostile takeover filled with conflict, disharmony, and discomfort. Pushing through workouts, pretending clothes still fit, and crying (or getting pissed off) a lot.
The more I resisted? The more “the uglies” persisted.
One day, after yet another failed “negotiation” with my ovaries (dark chocolate bribe included), I realized I was spending more energy fighting the hormonal change than accepting what was — that I was changing. And so what?! Change happens!
Seeing it from that perspective, I had to laugh — and then admit this bold truth:
Change often comes with challenges.
Yes — my body was changing. But I’d gone through change before. Not with hot flashes or night sweats, but with big life shifts that felt uncomfortable, inconvenient, and unwanted — at first… yet those very changes I “didn’t want” ended up being the very ones that shaped me into the soulfull woman I get to be today.
So, I stopped pushing and leaned into accepting. Because even though my hormones felt out of control, I could still make choices about my life. And so can you.
Here’s what I choose to do:
✧ Stop procrastinating and get my hormones tested.
✧ Schedule an appointment with my doctor.
✧ Accept support from wise women who’d already navigated these waters.
✧ Share the feels 😩😤😞🤪😵💫 with trusted loved ones.
✧ Ask myself the same essential question I pose to my clients: What must you believe to feel this badly?
💖 The answer was humbling: I’d fallen into the trap of believing life was “happening to me” instead of knowing this change (and all change) is happening for me.

✦ Menopausal Symptom Relief: How To Make Peace With Your Body
What if midlife isn’t about losing your mind or your mojo — it’s just a remodel? I’m sure you’ve seen a remodeling show — the after is consistently stunning! ✨
With that spark of curiosity, try what’s been working for me (and my clients) to keep moving toward peace with your (eh-hem) changing body:
🥰 Listen to Your Body — Those symptoms and signals are love notes. Hear them and respond to with kindness.
🥹 Reframe Your Mindset — Menopause isn’t a punishment; it’s a natural transition every woman gets to go through to enter her next life chapter. It’s happening for you, not to you.
😭 Express Yourself — Soundtrack your moods, dance in the kitchen, cry in the shower.
🤓 Get Pro Support — Testing, treatment, and guidance can change how you feel. You never have to say yes to a treatment you don’t want, but you deserve the information and support to make informed choices.
👯♀️ Find Your Tribe — People who nod knowingly when you say, “The hot flashes are back,” — those are your soul sisters. You never, ever have to go through menopause alone!
☺️ Pamper Yourself — Baths, books, blankets… yes, please!
😴 Sleep Like a Queen — Comfy bedding, silk pillowcases, weighted blankets. Make your bed feel like a tranquil cloud.
😋 Nourish & Move — Eat vibrant foods. Move in ways you love. (Tuesday Tango, anyone?)
🤣 Laugh It Off — When you’re open to it, menopause is comedy gold. Queue up a favorite sitcom, read something silly, or call that friend who always cracks you up. I recently had comedians Amy Poehler and Leanne Morgan playing in my earbuds, and I was laughing so hard my daughter asked what I was listening to. (Here’s the clip — you’re welcome! 😁👉 Amy & Leanne)
✦ From Struggle To Strength — With Radiant Self-Love And Support
The moment you stop fighting change and start getting curious about change, something shifts for you for the better.
You being to see that life — even the parts that make you want to hide under the covers like change and challenge — are gifts you actually *want* to open, even when it doesn’t feel like it now. Your body is telling you you’re ready for the next level. To rise, reveal, and revel in an even brighter chapter of your life.
When you see menopause in a loving way, you get to meet the next version of you. My guess? She’s even wiser, wilder, and more wonderfully unapologetic and loving than you are now!
If that sounds impossible, it’s not! You, like me, get to choose how you experience this chapter of life.
Sure, you could put yourself last on the list and put off making time for yourself a little longer. But, you could also be loved and guided through the challenges of menopausal change with qualified support. Sounds much better, huh?
Loving support is how you turn your second adolescence into a self-love journey — instead of a solo battle where you cry over how much cheese you ate yesterday.

✦ Finding the Right Support
Menopause can feel like a one-woman show — but it’s not meant to be. The right support doesn’t just get you through it; it helps you rise into the strongest, most radiant version of you. ✨
Here’s how you know you’ve found it:
🧭 They’ve walked a similar path and done it in a way you truly admire.
😌 You feel safe, seen, and lighter in their presence.
💡 They shine a light on loving possibilities you couldn’t quite see on your own.
💗 They’ve made a difference for others facing similar struggles.
When you have that kind of support, you stop white-knuckling change — and start shaping it into something beautiful.
And yes, I’ll admit it… I think I’m pretty good at being that support person. 😊 Spending an hour together uncovering what’s next for you? That’s my happy place!
If you’re ready to thrive in this “second adolescence” — with laughter, confidence, and a deep love for the woman you’re becoming — don’t do it alone. Whether it’s with me or another wholehearted guide, navigate with your professional soul-sister tribe. 💛💫
xo,
P.S. Listen in to the full convos where Tamar, Lauren, and I laugh, commiserate, and admit that this stage of life is basically puberty 2.0. Only now, instead of sneaking out to meet your crush, you’re sneaking in a nap between Zoom calls. 😆
